Hi Karen,
I just wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that I had a wonderful time diving in Fiji at Malolo Resort. Jiuta, Bill, and Kelli were very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. These guys went out of their way to accommodate my group. At one point Kelli took myself and my cousin (the new Bride) on a shore dive so that we could get underwater photos of my cousin in her wedding dress. Kelli was outstanding during this challenging process. Bill and Jiuta took us out most mornings and were great to dive with. I learned so much from them just by watching them underwater, it was like I was in another advanced class. I can truly say that my diving has improved 100% in the last week, which in turn has made me love diving even more. I owe all of this to the Subsurface Fiji Staff at Malolo Resort. The thing I liked most about Kelli, Jiuta, and Bill was their true passion for diving and their respect for the Ocean environment and the professional manner in which they conveyed this to the divers on their boat. Thank you for everything and please pass on my compliments to the Malolo Staff.

John and all the dive masters,
We just want to thank you again for a great week of diving. We now question the rating of Taveuni diving that the magazines brag about. Garden Island Resort and associated dive shop were efficient and nice folks, however a few observations that you may want to use when people ask about Rainbow Reef diving compared to your area.
-Musket Cove set up of activities and accommodations were far superior (the no added cost for kayaks, snorkeling, etc. a plus), Garden Isle charges US prices for every little extra. They had 2 kayaks in very poor condition and wanted $15/hr. You could not snorkel or swim anywhere off the coast because of small boat traffic, and it was $20/person to go on trips.
-They have 3 large boats and cater to large groups. There were 27 folks from Dallas Texas diving with us and we really missed your small boat atmosphere. There was only 1 other couple of independent divers so we were messed into this big group.
-The current is a major factor in the area and for some reason we did not do drift dives, they were more go out with the current at deeper depths then spend half the dive at 30ft trying to maintain position, Which was around 12 other divers in a small space the dive master established? The Dallas group had been diving all over the world for the last 20 yrs together and were also very disappointed with the dive plans.
-We were glad that Karen Loeffler was certified in your shop and did not go to Taveuni with us because it was not for beginners. Even snorkeling the reef was a challenge for beginners. J and I went on one trip and we were the only 2 of 10 folks that got into the water to snorkel, it was deep and had strong currents and some small swells and the other folks did not make it past the swim step. We ended up in a more shallow protected area, however cyclone and algae damage left the area pretty sparse.
-Your area has lots of diving variety and you get to see other islands and scenery between dives. Rainbow Reef diving is just going out across from Taveuni to various parts of the reef and seeing pretty much the same scenery. We did see more and larger sharks and mantas, but the coral was not that different. Also so areas there had been hit by the last cyclone so we encountered more dead areas. Of course we had solid sun in your area and pretty much cloudy days around rainbow reef, so that could have effected our assessment too.
-The major plus of Taveuni is seeing more of the local Fijian culture. We took some great walks on our own into the mts and saw villages, fields and beautiful lush rainforest and waterfalls. It did rain a bit while we were there.
I just sent a link to your web site to a few diving work mates who have Fiji on their list of future locations, so you may see a few more Alaskans your way.
Hope you have a nice holiday season coming up and are safe from the cyclones. We hope to come back your way when Jonathan's sis and husband start cruising again back to Fiji from new Zeeland, maybe next Oct. to meet them in Musket Cove.
Cheers,
Pam Pope and Jonathan Price
Hi John,
a quick note as we missed saying goodbye last week.
From both Marsha and myself a GIANT Vinaka Vaka Levu both you and your staff for the most wonderful 2 weeks of diving we have ever had.
You probably realise just how wonderful your location is, having dived a bit on the Great Barrier Reef north of Cairns, the reefs round Mololo are at least as good, if not better than round there, and are certainly superior to Hawaii, or southern Australia.
The experience was made immeasurably better by the professionalism and great good humour of Manu, Mateo, Seva, Juita not to miss out Eric and Junior. You have living gold in them all.
Formal warning, I have already requested time with the time share people for this time next year, I promise that means that we will be back, a greater compliment would be hard to give - the experience was that good.
Please pass on our best wishes to the team.
We are getting a copy of "Return of the King" cut for you all, as well as a CD of a Hawaiian Singer called "Iz" (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole) for Juita. There will be a care package for Seva and Manu as well - I presume that c/- Subsurface Musket Cove Private Mail Bag NAP 0352, Nadi Airport, Fiji Islands will find you?
hope to hear from you soon

Hi guys,
What an amazing holiday! I didn't plan on diving this trip but I'm sure glad you got me into it. From the Open Water Diver course through to the subsequent reef, wreck, and night dives (9 in all). I have nothing but praise for the professional and flexible attitude of all concerned.
Thanks, Paul
Hi John,
Thanks to yourself, Manu and Seva for the excellent diving and the training for Lorretta.
For a girl who lacks a confidence in her abilities, she has really achieved something and with the help of Manu, Seva an Junior her dream of conquering the Dive ticket had come true.
Merry Xmas,
Rob and Lorretta
Isei: Great Instruction! Fun Dives! Our diving together was the coolest! Thanks heaps for your calm, professional and fun attitude, its what the sport's all about! Keep it up Bro'! To everyone at subsurface,
Please pass on our thanks to Charlie, Cecil and Joe for such fantastic dives during our recent stay at Treasure Island. We had a great holiday but the diving was lovely and met our expectations and more.

To Tony, Valu, Tomo etc. ...
Thank you very much for an unforgetable week at Beachcomber. Your guys are terrific.
God bless you. David Kriel
Hi Brigit,
Not sure if you remember me. We were the ones eating all that pizza at Tutukaka (New Zealand) earlier this year after diving with Dive Tutukaka.
I'm in Fiji now and I've just gone for a dive with Subsrface Fiji at Beachcomber Island. I was impressed with their set-up there. Very clean and professional and friendly service. The gear was in great condition and
they had a lot of choice. They even kept a stock of dive computers and other dive accessories.
Subsurface is doing a great job as a PADI diver operator in Fiji. If the Subsurface operation at the Beachcomber island is anything to go by, PADI is doing a great job with quality management in Fiji. I'm definitely very happy diving with PADI certified operators and look forward to many more dives with them. The Senior instructor there was Valu Tamanivalu and our guide in the dive was "Tomo" (a Japanese instructor based at Beachcomber).
See you underwater!

Hi, John,
Thanks for all your help and the great diving experience while I was there. I have to say to you (like I've been saying to everyone else since I got back - although I try not to hurt the feelings of other dive operators) that SubSurface Fiji was the best dive operation that I went diving with while I was there. I felt that the rental equipment was first rate, the dive masters paid close attention to newer divers (like me!), we got a thorough dive profile of what we were going to do and could expect to see - and everyone associated with your company seemed to really care a lot about the overall dive experience that everyone had. The boat rides out to the dive sites were relatively short (especially compared to Marlin Bay, where we had a couple of trips of about an hour out to the dive site) and I thought the dive sites were great! Loved all the variety and color and all the dives were really fun for me I bought a SubSurface Fiji shirt at Treasure and wear it proudly, you can be sure. Absolutely can't wait to get back and do more diving!
